We believe everyone is an artist. The world is your canvas.
PaintPOV started with a simple question: what if you could paint anything, from anywhere, without leaving your browser?
Google Street View lets us see any street on Earth. We thought — what if you could also paint on those streets? Not spray paint on a wall, but digital art layered over real places. A Monet-style impression of the Eiffel Tower. Neon graffiti on a Tokyo alley. Watercolor washes across the Sydney Harbour.
So we built it. PaintPOV combines the Google Maps JavaScript API with HTML5 Canvas to create a seamless painting experience on top of real-world imagery. No downloads. No accounts. Just paint.
We use the Google Maps JavaScript API to embed a Street View panorama. You can navigate, look around — it's the real Street View experience.
A transparent canvas element sits directly on top of the Street View iframe, capturing all mouse and touch events. When you paint, you're drawing on that canvas.
We use the Canvas 2D API directly — no WebGL, no heavy frameworks. Round, square, soft, and spray brushes are all rendered in real time with proper alpha compositing.
When you save, we capture your canvas and optionally merge it with a screenshot of the Street View behind it. The result is a single PNG you can download or share.
